Book Beginnings is a weekly meme hosted by Rose City Reader. Each Friday we share the beginning of a book and as always I like to mix it up. I've shared the whole first chapter of The Violet Hour and last Friday I shared two beginnings instead of one. This Friday I want to share the beginning of both of Victoria Browne's books!
I have already read Gut Feeling, I finished it Monday night and at the time I'm currently reading Third Time Lucky - The Honey Trap. They're definitely great books!
Ashleigh Lands is a twenty six year old dental nurse, who
after meeting Dave Croft, a gorgeous twin, finds herself in an impossible
dilemma. Living in the heart of London, Ashleigh and her group of friends find
themselves in numerous situations, parties, traumas and sexual experiences.
With Ashleigh's love cheat lawyer ex-boyfriend Lee Preston
pulling on her heart strings Ashleigh goes on holiday to Ibiza with the girls;
Rachel a buyer for a large child's clothing company and also Ashleigh's best
friend.
Beautiful Jules who works for a well-known magazine company.
And Gemma a house wife who has just found out her husband was sleeping with his
personal trainer.
Ibiza brings the girls new friends along with love and loss.
Whilst the girls are away Dave has an unwanted sexual encounter. Ashleigh
returns home only to have her life thrown into turmoil.
"But I heard it with my own ears". Must be true
then? ? ?
This is the first paragraph:
Dave took in a deep breath as he straightened, heaving his bag of tools on to his shoulder for support. Standing on the pavement, he squinted in the brilliant sunlight looking at the oversized door and stepped up to the intercom, blissfully unaware how this day would change his life path. A gold plaque caught his eye.

I really enjoyed reading Gut Feeling and you can expect a review September 24.! and an excerpt of the first chapter September 19.!
A fast moving witty chick lit drama that will take you on a
journey of laughter and revelations.
Good friends Sarah a sensible simple soul, Laura bitchy
complicated, Beth a ‘too cool for school’ high school teacher, and Jess a funky
hairdresser, decide to honey trap Jess's new American boyfriend Richard. How
could such a simple plan go wrong? Just add Jess’s new flat mate, hot sexy
Elise to the mix, a few glasses of wine and you have a cocktail fit for
disaster – especially when Elise honey traps the wrong boyfriend! Good friends
are all Sarah needs when her uncomplicated life is jettisoned into chaos.
Dan, Sarah’s boyfriend makes some shady life choices. But
who is friend and who is foe?
Wealthy bachelor Lee Preston sets his sights on Sarah and
all Lee wants is to make her happy. Life could be fantastic when money is no
object and your closet is filled with designer shoes, Oh, and his with secrets.
Again, the first paragraph
If we were to know the future, no doubt we would all be too scared to put one foot in front of the other. Already knowing the outcome, and the predictable paths it would lead us down, would mean that our lives would lack any spontaneity. In some people's eyes this could equal sheer bliss, while for others it could simply turn into a life of mundane perseverance.
This is such a beautiful beginning! Just like Gut Feeling there'll be a review and an excerpt but I haven't decided which dates yet!
Remember to leave your book beginnings in the comments!
I don't read much chick lit. I hope you are enjoying the second as much as the first. My Friday memes this week come from What Angels Fear by C. S. Harris which has been on my TBR mountain for years. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteMe neither but I do enjoy it once in a while! I definitely preferred the first one more than the second one - but they're both good.
DeleteI'll check it out, thanks!
Can't always believe everything you see or hear. LOL Happy reading.

Well, it's honestly not that big a part of the story. It's just where Ash works! It's definitely a great read, both of them actually!
DeleteBoth books sound like they'd be fun to read. Thanks for introducing me to this author.
