Life of a Blogger: Favorite animals

Life of a Blogger is a weekly meme that is hosted by Jessi at Novel Heartbeat. Every week there is a different topic/question that we have to answer/write about. This week it's all about our favorite animals!

I'm actually not that much of a "animal-person", I don't like cats, birds or housepets aside from dogs... 

Panda's! My nickname at home is actually Panda (Amanda - panda, get it?). And since I almost only wear black and white it just fits...

But they are so cuuuute! I mean look at them, they're so fluffy and sweet and just adorable!

I also love my labrador Felix, he is so old and lazy that you can't do anything but love him. He has this weird habit of lying his head on my book if he wants my attention...

Gears of Wonderland by Jason G. Anderson (teaser)| The Edge of Always (Edge of Never #2) by J.A. Redmerski

I have read about 40% of Gears of Wonderland, and I am really enjoying it! I love this steampunk retelling of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland!

I have only read about 30 pages of The Edge of Always, but right now I'm more in the mood for something else..

5/5 to The Edge of Never, I really enjoyed it! 

3/5 to Side Effects May Vary.. It's a bit "meh" and I was pretty disappointed.

Top Ten Tuesday: My Bookish Bucket List

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the wonderful team at The Broke and the Bookish. Every Tuesday we list our top ten of a certain theme, genre or anything else - basically a top ten of you name it! This Tuesday is all about our bookish bucket lists, whether it is blogging related, book related, meeting authors, reading x many books per year, finishing a dauting book etc. 

As usual in no particular order:

My boyfriend recently bought Under the Dome for me, and since Michelle (from Book-Munchee) keeps saying that I have to read this book I figure that I have to read it sometime.. I am not saying that I don't want to read it - because I do, I think the plot is fascinating, the size is just really daunting... 

Pride and Prejudice is probably my favorite book, I just haven't gotten around to any of her other novels. I actually got the whole collection as a birthday present, so I just have to read it... But I fear that I have too high expectations

. 

I have never been to a bookish event - aside from book club - but there is a book event in September that I'll hopefully go to, I can't wait!

I absolutely love fairytales and so far I've only read fairytales from Germany and Denmark, and I really want to read some from Egypt!

I've always wanted to meet an author and get a book signed in person, and since there will be a bunch of authors at the book event in September, I can hopefully cross this off the list pretty soon. 

This is a challenge that I want to set myself sometime, I don't know when, but I will read a blogpost everyday for an entire month and it will be awesome!

I love Top Ten Tuesday, Teaser Tuesday and Life of a Blogger - I just want to come up with one of my own!

I loved the movie with Keira and it totally bumped this higher up on my TBR - the size is pretty daunting though...

I have read a bunch of YA and a couple of adult books, I just want to start reading more and maybe almost only read adult (sometime in the future)

I love read-a-thons and I think it would be awesome if I can host one of my own!

At first I wasn't too sure about this one, but somehow I clicked the "request" button and a couple of hours later I was accepted - so I obviously felt I had to read it. And I honestly don't know how I feel about it. I liked the message the story sends, that we have to befriend everyone, even the ones who are different, no matter what that difference is. I feel like this is a book a lot of US children could benefit from.

I loved Nikki's character, this honour student who has blue stripes in her hair, loves to hike and is overall not afraid of anything. For once we have a female main character who aren't our "normal" mc, she is different - a great kind of different. She is a rolemodel and her courage is inspirational. 

In a way I liked Candace and in another way I didn't. She had a similar personality to Nikki, but she was also entirely different. She didn't want to befriend Adam - she actually tried to persuade Nikki out of it. But Candace was still a great friend for Nikki, she stood up for her and I admire her for that. 

I liked the overall story, the fact that Nikki has this "hero" or "savior" role and she has to save Adam from the path he's going towards. I thought the first few chapters was pretty weird, since she has this dream that tells her she has to save Adam, but I thought it was a great way to get the story going. I liked that the pace of their new friendship was that of a normal one and not quickly-evolving because she has to save him. She actually starts getting to know who Adam is, and he starts realising that not all people are bad. 

I think this story sends a very powerful and important message, I admire the author for writing a story that will be so emotional for some people and can mean nothing to others. I adore the author for creating a heroine that is different and good without it being too much. 

Even though I think all those things and feel all those feelings I still had to give this book 3 hearts because I felt that something was missing and I only connected to a single character.

Going back to reading books for pleasure

Jamie from The Perpetual Page-Turner made a post about how she wanted to "hang up her hat as a book reviewer" that post really got me thinking - I feel like I have to review every book I read, and that is getting quite tiring. I know I made a resolution to review all the books I read - but then I read 15 books in a month and how was I to write that many book reviews and still post them within that month? 

Before I blogged I read entirely for pleasure, I didn't review the books I read - unless you count a few comments every once in a while on Goodreads. I took my time with the books I read and I didn't look for things to love or things to hate or noticed all the flaws. I just read and let the book be what it truly is, and I miss that. I miss reading a book and just reading. I miss enjoying a book and let the flaws add to the book. I know that if I continue reviewing every single book I read, I will stop reading.. Because I miss that feeling I get when I read a book solely for my pleasure.

I still have a bunch of books from Netgalley, Edelweiss and authors, so I'm not saying that there won't be any book reviews. There will probably still be four a month (every saturday) but I don't know if there's going to be more than that. The reviews will probably also be 4 and 5 heart reads - because those are some I really enjoy.
I will also try to do some book talks or discussions on books instead of reviewing them.

So to summarize quickly: I won't be reviewing every single book I read, I will review some and do book talks or discussions with others.

And by the way, if there's a certain book you either want me to read or a book I've read you want me to review, just leave a comment and it will possibly happen

Life of a Blogger: Travel

I don't travel at all, I went to Holland for a month when I was younger, and I've been to Germany a couple of times, but I've never really traveled. That will change this year though! We are going on a school trip to Ireland! It's going to be great!

I really want to go to London and Paris though (I seem to mention that all the time). I want to go to Paris because the language is beautiful and I just want to experience everything. And London, well.. my dad grew up in England but I've never been there. I just want to go to a place where I can talk English all the time, go into a store and pick out any book and it's in English (I only read books in English even though my native language is Danish).

So where do you want to travel to or where have you already been?
