#cramathon, TBR and progress

Hi guys! I've been looking for some readathons these last couple of months and apparantly everything  is happening in July and August so there's going to be a great amount of readathons these two months! I just recently discovered #cramathon, which is a readathon Whitney from whittynovels is hosting. #cramathon runs from July 10th at 12 AM midnight (your time zone) - July 13th at 11:59 PM (your timezone). I'm probably going to read for the majority of the day tomorrow anyway so I'll just make my readathon longer.

There's also some challenges, I'm probably not going to complete everyone of them and I'm definitely not aiming for that! But the challenges I plan on completing are:
  • Read a hardback
  • Read 2 books in 24 hours
  • Read a graphic novel
  • Read a novella
  • Read 5 books total
I haven't figured my TBR out yet, or at least not completely, but so far it looks like I'm going to be reading these books:

I'm already listening to both Things We Know by Heart by Jessi Kirby and The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins as audiobooks and Unbreakable by Kami Garcia is going to be a reread so I can read the sequel Unmarked
For the novella I plan on reading The Queen by Kiera Cass and maybe The Prince. If I'm in the mood for The Elite after reading that or those I probably will.

Day 1
I actually did pretty well for the first day of the readathon! I didn't actually read any books from my TBR (oops) but I read 2 books anyway:

I'd already begun reading The Elite before the readathon but I hadn't read that much. I really enjoyed The Elite but I was pretty disappointed with Homecoming
I also started a third book; The One by Kiera Cass

Day 2
Today I read a total of 3 books and started a fourth! I managed to get halfway through No Time for Goodbye by Linwood Barclay late at night.

I'm apparently not that good at sticking to my TBR but at least I get a ton of reading done! So far I've read 1 library book, 2 ebooks and 2 physical books from my bookshelf!
My favorite book today was probably The One or Veronika Decides to Die - they were really good but not in the same way!

Day 3
I can't really figure out whether this was the last day of the readathon but let's say it is! It's not that it was a bad day, but I 'only' finished 2 books and started a third - it was longer books though.
I got about halfway through The Girl on the Train before midnight!

I loved reading The Jane Austen Marriage Manual but I have to admit that I had higher hopes!

In conclusion
In 3 days I managed to finish a total of 7 books and then half of an 8th book! I read a total of 1984 pages this weekend - I'm quite proud actually!
I only managed to complete 2 challenges: Read 2 books in 24 hours and Read 5 books in total

Did the readathon go well for you? How many books did you finish? How many challenges did you complete?

24 April 2015

My TBR for Dewey's 24-hour read-a-thon

So I've participated in Dewey's 24-hour read-a-thon 3 times so far and I've failed miserably the last two.. The first time I participated it was great, I read a bunch of books and a couple of graphic novels and I was awake for the majority of the 24 hours. The last time I participated I was sick and therefore fell asleep after an hour. Quite a contrast between those two, don't you think?

I decided, like yesterday, that I would give it a go this time. I don't have any assignments, I don't have to think about work and I really don't have that much homework at the moment so it couldn't be more perfect!

Since I've participated a few times I know that a couple of 'regular'-sized books are the way to go for me - and probably an audiobook when my eyes need a break. I've tried big books, short books, regular-sized books, anthologies and graphic novels - and I've read both physical and digital books.

My physical TBR for the read-a-thon is;

  • Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades #3) by E.L. James
  • Siege and Storm (Grisha #2) by Leigh Bardugo
  • Confessions of a Shopaholic (Shopaholic #1) by Sophie Kinsella
  • The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith
  • Rush (Breathless #1) by Maya Banks
  • The Cuckoo's Calling (Cormoran Strike #1) by Robert Galbraith
  • All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

I also have some other books I can read if I'm not in the mood for any of these;
  • After We Fall by Emma Kavanagh
  • Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn - as an audiobook
  • We Are All Made of Stars by Rowan Coleman
  • Uprooted by Naomi Novik

I know it's quite a big TBR but I have difficulty choosing a book when I'm done so this is just a bunch of books I want to read and then I can choose to read whatever I want from the pile.

13 October 2014

Dewey's 24 hour Read-a-thon

Last year in October I discovered the 24-hour read-a-thon that takes place twice a year and I've failed both times I've participated. I was up for 12-15 hours the first time (12 hours in a row, then I slept and woke up and read for the remainder of the read-a-thon) and back in April I only read for 6-10 hours because I had things to do.
Both times I had a TBR that consisted of 4-8 books and I think that may have been a bad idea because I'm one of those people that have a hard time getting in to books, I have to read at least 50 pages before I know if I want to keep reading or not and most of the time I read those 50 pages quite slow. This time I want to do something different, I want to try my hardest to stay up for the whole 24 hours AND I will tackle a single big book this time instead of a bunch of short ones. I have 4 books I'm thinking about, now I just have to choose which one.

That's where you come in, which one of these do you think I should read, and why?

Opening meme
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Denmark, Europe!

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

This time I'm trying the one-book stack and I've chosen Under the Dome since it fits October so well.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

I don't really have any snacks lined up, I'm more into drinks instead of snacks so I'm looking forward to my favorite tea and ice cold cranberry juice ^^

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

I walked on a catwalk for the first time today in the most gorgeous gown ever!

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

This is my third time :)
As I mentioned I'm going to try the one-book stack for the first time. Since I'm sick and don't feel so well I don't know if I can stay up all night and read :/

Information and hourly updates for Dewey's 24 hour read-a-thon

Since the 24 hour read-a-thon is starting soon (about 3 and a half hour to go) I though I'd give you some information and stuff so I don't have to worry about that once the read-a-thon starts. So let's get on with it.

  • There will be hourly updates on here and I will post updates on instagram and twitter as well. (This will be my update post for the entire read-a-thon)
  • I am a Challenge Host, and I have a challenge coming up for Hour 3 so I hope you're looking forward to it!
  • I am also a cheerleader so I will be cheering for some people on twitter
  • The challenges I participate in will have their own separate posts (I think it's easier that way)
  • I probably won't be up for 24 hours - I will try though. But my plan is to stay awake for as long as I can and then when I wake up again I will start reading until the read-a-thon is over.

I have already posted my TBR on instagram but in case you don't follow me on instagram I will post it here too:

Hour 0 of Dewey's 24 hour read-a-thon: Kick off meme

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

I have no idea, I am really enjoying Fearsome Dreamer though and I am looking forward to reading Rain and Thirst ^^

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

Probably chips and cola - my guilty pleasure

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

Hmm, I love to sing? I love to be organized but my room always looks like a mess...

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

Read shorter books.. And try to stay awake for the entire read-a-thon - this is my second time!

I hope to read at least 6 books this week! And hopefully I will have time to read the entire week - even though I have some papers to finish before I start school again.

Shatter Me (Shatter Me #1) by Taherah Mafi
and Eleanor by S.F. Burgess

That was fun!

Book Title poetry
I have decided to share 2 since I couldn't choose between the ones I made - but bear in mind that it is a bit more storylike than poetry.

At breaking dawn, the dawn of the dreadfuls
The hero of ages pray
to the angels and demons
for him to get his empire in black and gold

We, the drowned
looking for.... it
The Final Testament..
In the lost library
at the edge of never

It was actually really difficult, but it was still fun!

#AYearAThon: Harry Potter

I made a post about what #AYearAThon is here

I am a potterhead, so ofcourse I had to participate in the read-a-thon! I am currently at the 5. book (Order of the Phoenix) so that is the one I am going to be re-reading this week. It is a big book - 956 - so I don't know whether I will have the time to finish it, but I hope I do!

If you want to join in, you can sign up using goodreads (really easy), just press yes and you are participating! Click here

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter, #5)

Monday:
Number of pages I've read today: 64
Total number of pages I've read: 64

Tuesday:
Number of pages I've read today: 125
Total number of pages I've read: 189

Wednesday:
Number of pages I've read today: 58
Total number of pages I've read: 247

Thursday:
Number of pages I've read today: 17
Total number of pages I've read: 264

Friday:
Number of pages I've read today: 46
Total number of pages I've read: 310

Number of pages I've read today: 96
Total number of pages I've read: 406

Sunday:
Number of pages I've read today: 58
Total number of pages I've read: 464

In conclusion:
I feel like this exact book is not a book that fits well with read-a-thons, I love the Harry Potter series, but I prefer short or middle sized books for read-a-thons, not 1000 pages! But I have read almost half of it, so it was not an intire waste!

#AYearAThon - Monthly Read-a-thons! (Information)

I have heard a couple of people talking about a Harry Potter read-a-thon taking place in February, but I have never actually heard WHO is hosting it or WHEN in February. So when I found out that it was actually part of a bigger "plan" I knew I had to tell you about it.

So some people on youtube has made a year-long read-a-thon. There will be a read-a-thon the first week every month - and every read-a-thon also has a theme. I made an overview of the dates and months, but there is also an overview on their page (here).

I also found a video about it! YAY! So you can either choose to just read about it, or hear about it ;)

I don't know wether I will be participating in every read-a-thon, but I will participate in a couple at least! If you are going to be participating in any of them, let me know! I think I will be participating in Harry Potter, Twilight (currently re-reading the series), re-reads, finish series and classics.

I will probably be making a post about read-a-thons with dates and everything soon - I am trying to find a bunch of them!

Top Ten Tuesday + Teaser Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is as usual hosted by the girls at The Broke and the Bookish. This Tuesday it is all about our resolutions for 2014 - I have chosen to only do bookish, since I have quite a few of them.

The first one is to read 50 books - whether it will be ebooks or physical copies don't matter, as long as they are books. Graphic novels, short stories, novellas and such do not count towards this one.

I do not read that many classics, so I want to read a few this year - at least one of them will probably be by
Austen...

I want to read some of the books I already own, since I got nearly 20 books for Christmas, I have a lot unread books on my shelves and there is some packages in the mail for me as well.

There is an exception for this one, if the book is in a series, then I will not review it until I have finished the series, and then I will do a series review instead.

Since I have a great local library I figured it was time to use it a bit more - and also spend a little less on books, since I want to buy some new stuff for my room and maybe some new clothes. And this way it will not do any harm, since I still get to read all the books I want - it is just free instead.

Since I always tend to read YA contemporary or horror books, I want to read something else. I really like reading fantasy - I just don't do it very often.. But I will chance that! I just got the first 3 books in the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson, and that is fantasy!

I really like read-a-thons, whether it is weeklong, 3 days or 24 hours - it is just a ton of fun. And since I know there is a read-a-thon in January, April, May & August - I have a great selection, and I already know I will participating in the one in January.

When I discovered Netgalley, I went a little crazy. I have 7 left, so it will not be that big a challenge - but I will complete it!

I want to make a "favorite book tubers" series, maybe a post each month for 3 months or a "favorite book bloggers" series. I have a few ideas.

I love reading and I love to write, so a dream of mine has always been to write a book. I will not set that as a resolution though. I just want to write a story, whether it be 5 or 50 pages - as long as I write something I am proud of. - I could actually also turn that into a mini-series!, that would be interesting... Let me know if you think turning my story into a mini-series so you all can read it, is a good idea!

The last one is, that I want to re-read some books, sometime this week or the next there will be a post with the bunch of books I want to re-read, stay tuned for that!

Teaser Tuesday is hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. Want to join? All you have to do is grab your current read, flip open to a random page and share a non-spoiler teaser. Easy, right? Then just write it in the comments or make your own post and put the link in the comments. - But I like to share 2 teasers instead of one.

Alice in Tumblr-land
I am currently re-reading Alice in Tumblr-land by Tim Manley, I read this during October and November with
my sister, but I never really paid much attention to the stories or made a review - but that will change now!

These teasers will be a bit different because of the way the book is written. Every page is a new story, so instead of 2 teasers you get 2 actual stories from the book. How about that?

Remember to share your teasers and top tens in the comments below!
