Top Ten Tuesday: Books for every lover of the unknown

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely ladies at The Broke and the Bookish. Every Tuesday we create a list inspired by a particular topic! This week is about recommendations! And I've chosen recommendations for lovers of the unknown. 

So, what do I mean by that? Under hyped books - the books that are the underdogs and always go unread. I have a ton - and some, the majority actually, are absolute favorites of mine! 

The Katriona series by Lene Kaaberbøl
This was one of the first series I was crazy about. I remember finding the entire series on a shelf in our school library and being captivated by the red headed girl on the cover (which is now discontinued and unavailabe anywhere). I recently read it (again) and I loved it. It's such an entertaining series and I think it's perfect for when you're in between middle grade and YA. 

The Violet Hour series by Andrea L. Wells (uncompleted)
I always mention this series, even though there's only a prequel and the first book out so far, but I really do enjoy it. I don't consider it a classic, maybe because I didn't grow up with it like I did with the Katriona series, but it's one of the most entertaining series I've read in a long time. Werewolves, a great writing style and an exciting story. 

Veronika Decides to Die by Paulo Coelho 
This is definitely a special book. I read it in a matter of hours, so I can't remember it that well, but I remember loving it! Also, I've only met one person who've read it and I've heard no one talk about it - but it's soo good. A captivating and emotional story. 

I'm Still Here by Clélie Avit
I literally JUST read this! I received the Danish version for review and I've been putting it off for fear of being disappointed. I couldn't put it down though and I think it's hauntingly beautiful. A lovestory where the girl is in a coma, you can't say that's not intriguing! 

If You Find This Letter by Hannah Brencher
Even though this contains a fair share of religion, which annoyed me a bit, I loved the message! Hannah left letters everywhere she went - for strangers - to help in some way or other. A lovely note can brighten anyones day and it was quite enjoyable. 

The Beau Rivage series by Sarah Cross
I discovered this series through netgalley and I've heard NO ONE talk about it! It's all the fairytales contained in one city; Beau Rivage. The fairytales are curses and you know which fairytale you're connected to by a birthmark - e.g. a heart, a rose etc. The fun thing is that you don't know which role you're going to play in the fairytale so you can grow up thinking you're the prince or the princess and turn out to be the villain. It's so much fun! 

The Dispossessed series by Page Morgan
Another fun series! I didn't think it was going to be anything for me but Victorian Paris!? I couldn't keep my paws away and turns out; I love it! Even though it's a paranormal story including gargoyles and other demon creatures. It's a bit hard to follow in the beginning and there's so many different demons that it's overwhelming but you're going to be obsessed! I recently read the last book in the series and it was good to be back! 

Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane
I read this long before I started blogging and before I'd even discovered booktube. I found it for a couple of dollars and at that time I bought all the cheap books that sounded remotely interesting. I picked it up when I was in the ninth or tenth grade and I loved it! It was tough going for the first 50 or so pages but I was hooked! I stayed up late that week and read until my eyes hurt! I was mindf*cked by the ending. 
It's not really worth it if you've seen the movie because they've chosen one interpretation of the ending and you can't really unsee it. 

Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt
Another one I've received for review from a Danish publisher! I've not really heard that many talk about it on the interwebs but it's such a good story! Technically YA but it has some middle grade and adult qualities to it! It's about June losing her uncle to aids (of course it's about so much more, but that's the basic story line)

How to Love by Katie Cotugno
I heard a bunch about this when it was just released but I've heard nothing since! Her newest book, 99 Days, was awful though. How to Love is one of those older YA books. It's about teen pregnancy and forgiveness and I can almost promise you that you're gonna wanna read it if you read the first part of the synopsis!
